Why Does Biden Want Men on Women's Teams?

Selina Soule trained all her life for the Connecticut State Track Championships of 2018.

She knew winning the race would open up golden opportunities to be scouted by college coaches and maybe even get chosen for athletic scholarships.

She geared up for the race with only one goal in mind: to best all the other female runners in the state. Being the promising athlete that she is, that’s exactly what she did.

Except it wasn’t a celebratory mood for Selina on the finish line. She may have run faster and stronger than every other female in the race, but she was no match for Terry Miller and Adraya Yearwood, two transgender athletes who broke records -- and Selina’s heart -- that day.

“I fully support and am happy for these athletes for being true to themselves. They should have the right to express themselves in school, but athletics have always had extra rules to keep the competition fair.” Soule told The Heritage Foundation, when asked to describe the 100-meter event. “It’s demoralizing.”

Yet, this is the ‘new normal’ that former Vice President and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden wants.

The Equality Act

Biden has been careful not to draw too much attention on transgender athlete issues, but he has pledged before The Hill that he would pass the Equality Act within his first 100 in office, if he wins.

For the most part, the Equality Act seems to be a victimless and progressive piece of legislation.

“The Equality Act would provide consistent and explicit non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people across key areas of life, including employment, housing, credit, education, public spaces and services, federally funded programs, and jury service,” read the bill’s description on the Human Rights Campaign website.

What Does Science Say?

However, organizations like Fair Play for Women are up in arms against the provision that forces public schools to include biologically male athletes in female sporting events.

“Sports bodies where thigh muscle strength gives a clear advantage in competition must suspend their trans eligibility rules immediately,” the group said. “Allowing males with a proven performance advantage to compete in female sport is discrimination against female sex.”

Indeed, researchers found that transgender women are likely to keep their physical strength advantages over biological females, even after 12 months of taking hormones.

Despite the overwhelming evidence, Biden says he is not ready to compromise when it comes to policies catering to the desires of transgender people.

“Let’s be clear: Transgender equality is the civil rights issue of our time. There is no room for compromise when it comes to basic human rights.” he wrote in a tweet.

And with the silent majority no doubt looking on in disgust, Biden may have just awarded Trump a winning hand while pandering to the fringes of the left.
